preserving and enhancing our nation's diverse cultural heritage.
The Endowment was created by Congress and established in 1965

it has awarded more than 113,000 grants to arts organizations
and artists in all fifty states and the six U.S. jurisdictions.
This public investment in the nation's cultural life has resulted
in both new and classic works of art reaching every corner of

Throughout the year, the Agency releases NASA research announcements,
cooperative agreement notices, broad agency announcements, and
the like. We focus on those announcements that emphasize technology
development and we try to facilitate the formation of collaborative
teams that will submit joint proposals to the announcement. Our
approach to technology integration asserts that development funds
can be obtained competitively through joint proposals and the
like.

The NSF funds research and education in science
and engineering, through grants, contracts, and cooperative agreements.
The Foundation accounts for about 20 percent of federal support
to academic institutions for basic research. Publications from
the Science Resources Studies Division and the National Science
Board, such as Science and Engineering Indicators, help put U.S.
investment in research and education through National Science
Foundation programs in national and international perspective.
