Community of Science, Inc. (COS) is the leading Internet site for the global R&D community. The National Endowment for the Arts provides national recognition and support to significant projects of artistic excellence, thus preserving and enhancing our nation's diverse cultural heritage. The Endowment was created by Congress and established in 1965 as an independent agency of the federal government. Since then, it has awarded more than 113,000 grants to arts organizations and artists in all fifty states and the six U.S. jurisdictions. This public investment in the nation's cultural life has resulted in both new and classic works of art reaching every corner of America.

Throughout the year, the Agency releases NASA research announcements, cooperative agreement notices, broad agency announcements, and the like. We focus on those announcements that emphasize technology development and we try to facilitate the formation of collaborative teams that will submit joint proposals to the announcement. Our approach to technology integration asserts that development funds can be obtained competitively through joint proposals and the like.

The NSF funds research and education in science and engineering, through grants, contracts, and cooperative agreements. The Foundation accounts for about 20 percent of federal support to academic institutions for basic research. Publications from the Science Resources Studies Division and the National Science Board, such as Science and Engineering Indicators, help put U.S. investment in research and education through National Science Foundation programs in national and international perspective.
