The School of Science prepares our alumni for a variety of science careers.
When you are doing what you love, it's not work; it's a rewarding career.
Biochemistry/Biophysics
Many students continue at the graduate level in areas like biochemistry, biophysics, genetics, molecular biology, immunology, or microbiology. Graduates are sought by pharmaceutical companies and biotechnology firms.
Bioinformatics and Molecular Biology
As a bioinformatics specialist you could serve as a key member of a biotechnology firm or a drug discovery team working with molecular biologists and biochemists to provide access to a wealth of new structural and sequence information.
You can also become a molecular biologist who knows how to extract information from large genomics databases, and then use this information for computer modeling.
Biology
This degree prepares students for careers in medicine, dentistry, and industry. The program also equips students with the background necessary for professional training in research or medicine.
Chemistry
Explore the exciting frontiers of science in polymer, bio-, medicinal, and environmental chemistry. Our program leads to careers in fields like industrial research and development, pharmaceuticals, medicine, dentistry, veternary science, biotechnology, forensic science, environment, and more.

Computer Science
Work in industries like computer networking, artificial intelligence, operating systems, robotics, databases, data mining, electric commerce, or software development. Our program is rigorous enough to command the respect of the top companies in the nation, yet also provides the flexibility for students to pursue their own interests.

Geology and Hydrogeology
You can choose a geology emphasis, such as geochemistry, mineralogy, petrology, organic chemistry, groundwater chemistry, seismology, geophysical exploration, groundwater flow, or the evolution of mountains.
You'll be prepared to work in academics, as a consultant in geology or hydrogeology, or at an environmental or energy-related firm.
Interdisciplinary Science
As broad and open, or concise and focused as your mind will allow. Alumni can combine their science education with humanistic studies like management, law, education, the arts, or communications. This program is also good for those interested in health-related sciences like sports medicine and athletic training.
Mathematics and Applied Mathematics
After graduation, many of our students pursue industrial or corporate careers. Usually these are in the financial or computer-related industries. Others prefer to continue their academic career, either in mathematics or in a related application area.
