Grainger is one of Rensselaer’s preferred suppliers for maintenance, repair and operations (MRO) related products. Grainger, a leading distributor of MRO and related products, provides best-in-class pricing along with dedicated sales and customer support staff that are committed to exceeding the Institute’s unique service and product requirements.
Lab Safety Supply (LSS) items are also available through the Grainger punch-out catalog in Rensselaer’s Marketplace. Lab Safety Supply is your solution for safety, industrial, healthcare and laboratory supplies.
The Grainger three year negotiated contract is a competitively bid contract awarded in collaboration with the Educational and Institutional Cooperative Service (E&I), a national purchasing cooperative that serves over 2,300 member colleges and universities across the country.
Grainger and the E&I Program offer the ability to take advantage of:
- Significantly lower operational costs with the punchout catalog
- Free product training and safety training on a number of subject areas
- A customized list of over 1,000 preferred items with additional deeper discounts
Contract Term: 02/01/2010 – 01/31/2020
Products: The Grainger contract offers over 9,000,000 products available in Grainger’s full line catalog. LSS products can be purchased directly through the Grainger punch-out catalog.
Sourcing: Grainger will source products not available through the Grainger General Catalog.
Pricing: The pricing model for sourced products is based on current market conditions and is competitive for spot buy situations on a per order basis. Static negotiated pricing may be available for customer volume sourcing commitments based on established ordering patterns and supplier price support conditions.
Freight: Freight is FOB Destination, prepaid and billed to Customer to locations within the continental United States. Shipments to locations outside the continental United States is the responsibility of Customer. Any extra charges for additional services, such as hazardous materials, Customer’s carrier, premium freight, or special handling at the destination are paid by Customer.
Warranty: SELLER’S STANDARD WARRANTY DOES NOT APPLY TO SOURCED ITEMS: SELLER, TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED, PASSES THROUGH TO CUSTOMER ANY AND ALL MANUFACTURER AND SUPPLIER PRODUCT WARRANTIES.
Returns: Special manufactured and custom engineered product is non-returnable.
A RGA (Returned Goods Authorization) must be issued by Seller prior to returning sourced products; the RGA is good for 30 days after issuance. Returns will be sent directly to the sourced supplier, and not to a Grainger location, unless otherwise instructed in the RGA. Returned sourced products may incur a restocking fee of 35% of product sell price, freight prepaid and added, unless shipment was the result of Seller or manufacturer error.
Emergency Ordering: Grainger’s after hours emergency service provided between the hours of 5:00pm EST and 6:59am EST and official holidays when the branch is closed provides product fulfillment after standard Grainger branch business hours through a toll-free number (1-800-CALL-WWG). Calls are routed to the Grainger Call Center in Waterloo, Iowa. A Call Center employee then contacts a local Grainger branch employee, via pager, and relays the customer information. Grainger’s branch employees are committed to contacting the customer within 60 minutes of the initial customer call to make arrangements to meet the customer at the local Grainger branch to fulfill the emergency order. A $50 emergency fee may apply.
Returns: Grainger will accept returns for new, damaged, or merchandise with defects in workmanship or materials, for a period of one year from the original date of purchase. Credit will be issued in the same form of payment as the original transaction. Grainger reserves the right to limit or refuse acceptance of return of certain products. Non-General Catalog (Sourced) Product - Returns of Sourced Product is subject to Attachment B.
Visible Damage - When possible, Rensselaer should refuse delivery of products that are visibly damaged and contact their local Grainger branch or Account Manager to arrange for the shipment of replacement product.
Concealed Damage - Rensselaer should contact their local Grainger branch or Account Manager to arrange for the return of the damaged product and shipment of replacement product.
Overage - In the event of an overage in a shipment, Rensselaer may contact their local Grainger branch or Account Manager. A return authorization will be issued.
Shortage - Upon notification of a shipment shortage of in-stock General Catalog product, Rensselaer’s local Grainger branch personnel will process a shipment of the product not included in the original delivery. Should the product be out of stock at the time of notification, Grainger will inform Rensselaer of the estimated time of delivery.
Invoicing: Invoices will be provided by Grainger via email to the bill to Rensselaer representative identified on the Purchase Order.
Desktop Delivery: 24 to 48 hour delivery.
Ordering Information: Grainger catalog products must be processed via the Grainger punch-out catalog ordering site enabled in the Rensselaer Marketplace.
Grainger non-catalog/sourcing item inquiries are to be directed to the Grainger Account Manager, George Fudge, for product information, pricing and quotes prior to entering a requisition into Oscar.
