Rensselaer’s Supplier Diversity Policy

It is the policy of Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, consistent with Federal and State law, to take affirmative action to optimize interaction with small business enterprises, particularly small disadvantaged, minority, and women-owned businesses. As a campus that supports and encourages diversity, Rensselaer actively seeks to develop relationships with, and provide procurement opportunities for small, small disadvantaged, minority and women-owned businesses. The opportunity for growth for the benefit of these groups is an important part of the development of a strong business community.

All Rensselaer faculty and staff can support the Institute’s commitment to supplier diversity by using the small, diverse and local community businesses whenever possible. When all things are equal, the diversity supplier should be selected. We have established the following guidelines to assist the faculty and staff in promoting a successful Supplier Diversity Program.

• Make a concerted effort to use diversity suppliers whether purchasing via online requisition or P-Card. 
• The research community should proactively seek opportunities to use diversity suppliers when fulfilling material/service needs.
