Any property of value, that could be stolen and can be identified by a serial number, unique marking, etc., can be registered online or in person. Public Safety also provides engravers to make unique markings on your property to help you identify it should it be lost or stolen, and successfully recovered.

Public Safety uses the information to help identify property recovered by Public Safety or another agency. It’s used to help file complete reports should a person lose the information they provided regarding serial numbers, model numbers, etc. When property is of value and has unique identifying serial numbers, Public Safety can enter more information into the New York State Police Information Network Computer, thus increasing awareness and the chances of identifying recovered lost or stolen property.

Bike Registration:

Public Safety’s free registration program reduces bike theft and allows more recoveries by putting your bike into a national registry that lets authorities know it’s yours.
