Bylaws
Members:
Anyone
who has an interest in Physics may be a member. They are only considered a
Member if they are up-to-date on the dues. Local High School students and
students from Community Colleges in the area may be invited to become Members,
but the control of the Chapter must remain with RPI. Only RPI Students can be
Officers. Graduate Students and Professors are also encouraged to be active
with the Club. It is not necessary to be a student at all to be a member of the
Society.
The
Officers:
-
President
-
Vice President
-
Secretary-Treasurer
-
Outreach Coordinator
Honorary Officers/Appointed
Positions:
Succession:
The succession goes in the order
listed above. If an Officer wishes to retain their position rather than move
up, they may do so. The person below them in succession will then take their
place. A special election is then held for the vacant position.
Senior Officers Board:
This committee is made up of
former Officers of the Chapter, Professors and Graduate Students and is used as
an advisory committee for the current Officers as well as assisting in the
duties of the Officers on a temporary basis if absolutely necessary. Resigning
Officers may be members of the Board as long as they retained their office for
at least a full semester. Officers who underwent Impeachment will not be
accepted as members of the Board. The Senior Officers Board will also preside
over Impeachment Rulings in the event that they become necessary.
Impeachment of an Officer:
Only Members
(not Officers or members of the Senior Officers Board) may put forth an Officer
for Impeachment Ruling. Members of the Senior Board will then act as Jury for
the Ruling and make a decision based on a vote. The vote must be of greater
than 50% in order for the Officer to be Impeached.
