Physics
Graduate Programs and Degrees

Rensselaer offers both an M.S. and Ph.D. in Physics. We also offer an M.S. in astronomy; astronomy Ph.D. students receive a Ph.D. in Physics.

The M.S. degree requires 30 credit hours beyond the B.S. and the Ph.D. 72 credit hours beyond the B.S. The M.S degree is not a prerequisite for the Ph.D. degree.

Please see the Graduate Handbook for degree requirements and other details.
