Gwo-Ching Wang, Physics, Applied Physics and Astronomy Dr. Wang is the director of the GAANN Program and Head Department of Physics, Applied Physics, and Astronomy. Dr. Wang’s research areas are nanometer scale characterization of physical, chemical, and magnetic properties of surfaces, interfaces, ultrathin films, and nano structures.
Toh-Ming Lu, Physics, Applied Physics and Astronomy
Dr. Lu is R.P. Baker Distinguished Professor of Physics. Dr. Lu’s research interests include the fabrication and characterization of integrated nanoscale 3D structures.
Michael Shur, Physics, Applied Physics and Astronomy and ECSE
Dr. Shur is Patricia W. and C. Sheldon Roberts ’48 Professor of Solid State Electronics, Professor of ECSE. Dr. Shur’s current research interests include plasma wave electronics, and flexible array of sensors with data processing capabilities (or called sensitive skin).
Xi-Cheng Zhang, Physics, Applied Physics and Astronomy and ECSE
Dr. Zhang is J. Eric Jonsson Distinguished Professor of Science. Dr. Zhang’s interests include nanoscale THz emitters, high resolution THz microscope, and biosensors.
Peter Persans, Physics, Applied Physics and Astronomy
Dr. Persans leads a research program to study growth, stability, and optical characterization of nanocrystalline (II-VI and IV) semiconductors, and the fabrication of semiconductor nanoparticles with nanometer-thick metal shells.
Morris Washington, Physics, Applied Physics and Astronomy
Dr. Washington is Clinical Professor of Physics and the Associate Director of the Center for Integrated Electronics. His interests include the optical Communication devices and Integrated Optics.
Saroj Nayak, Physics, Applied Physics and Astronomy Dr. Nayak is Associate Professor of Physics. His research interests are ab initio electronic structure calculation, molecular dynamics and Monte Carlo simulation of low dimensional systems including spintronics and nano-catalytic reactions.
Gyorgy Korniss, Physics, Applied Physics and Astronomy Dr. Korniss is Associate Professor of Physics. His research interests include theoretical investigations of natural and artificial complex systems (driven systems, interface evolution, ecological systems, social networks).
Willie Rockward, Physics, Morehouse College
Dr. Rockward is Assistant Professor of Physics at the Morehouse College. His research interests are diffractive optics which includes crossed phase elements, micro-optics, intracavity laser systems, and polarization phenomena.
Chang Y. Ryu, Chemistry
Dr. Ryu is Assistant Professor of Chemistry. His research interests include nanopatterning using block copolymer self-assembly, polymer-nanotube hybrid materials and their patterning, and heterogeneous polymer supramolecular assembly.
David Duquette, Material Science and Engineering
Dr. David Duquette is Professor and Chair of Materials Science and Engineering. Professor Duquette’s research interests include terascale interconnect processing and electrochemical interaction at the nanoscale dimension.
Mutsuhiro Shima, Material Science and Engineering
Dr. Shima is Assistant Professor of Materials Science and Engineering. His research interests are mainly focused on novel magnetic and magnetoelectronic materials, including multilayered, patterned and self-assembled nano-scale structures, wires and particles.
Theodorian Borca-Tasciuc, Mechanical Engineering Dr. Borca-Tasciuc is Associate Professor of Mechanical Aerospace and Nuclear Engineering. His research interests are mainly focused on measurement and understanding of the thermal and thermoelectric properties of nanostructures.
