Fellowships


The U.S. Department of Education has awarded Rensselaer fellowships in the area of terascale electronic and photonic materials and devices.

Graduate Assistance in Areas of National Need Program (GAANN) Grant

The fellowships cover full tuition, provide a yearly stipend up to $30,000 (pending FAFSA results), and are renewable contingent on satisfactory progress. To be considered, candidates must demonstrate financial need and plan to pursue a Ph.D. in terascale electronics and related areas. Women and minority students are encouraged to apply.

  • Molecular spintronics
  • 3D nano-structured electrodes for ultra-high density capacitors
  • High density magnetic sensor array using electroplating on templates
  • Dynamic responses in spacially extended magnetic sensor array
  • Nanoscale heat transfer mechanism
  • THz nanoemittors, modulators, and microscope
  • Novel photonic bandgap devices
