Rensselaer\Patrick Snow

I am currently working with Professor Gwo-Ching Wang in the Department of Physics, Applied Physics, and Astronomy.

Currently I am participating with research in the area of characterization of physical properties of nanostructures using Scanning Tunneling Microscopy.  Specifically, I will examine the electrical properties of magnetic nanorods with and without the presence of a magnetic field, by using the STM tip to measure the resistance and the magnetoresistance of an isolated nanorod.

My expectations from this work is that I will gain a greater understanding of experimental techniques, theoretical background of quantum tunneling, and gain a solid foundation for conducting research in the future.
