I currently work in Dr. Saroj Nayak’s computational condensed matter research group in the department of Physics, Applied Physics, and Astronomy.

As a whole, our group is interested in the applications of computational methods to solving realistic quantum mechanical many-body problems, such as finite molecular clusters. We have currently have students who study the chemical processes in various biological systems, students who study potential nano-scale electronic devices, and students who study nanotube systems.

My work for Dr. Nayak will be in the area of theory development. I currently study the transport mechanisms of molecular systems, and I will continue to work to develop a more comprehensive model of such transport.

A comprehensive transport formalism will include coherent as well as incoherent scattering effects as well as an accurate representation of broadening at contact-molecule interfaces. Present transport formalisms, at least those which are derived from first-principles, do not quantitatively predict current to voltage characteristics. I hope to contribute to a quantitatively accurate formalism.
