I am currently working with Dr. Chang Y. Ryu (Department of Chemistry and Chemical Biology) and Dr. Hoichang Yang ( Rensselaer Nanotechnology Center ). The research performed in our group is primarily polymer characterization. My research deals with p-conjugated semiconducting polymers (e.g. poly(3-alkyl thiophene)s and polyfluorene derivatives), which can potentially replace conventional inorganic semiconductors for applications in the area of field-effect transistors (FETs).

More specifically we are looking at improving the field-effect mobility of these polymer-based FETs by controlling crystalline morphologies and orientation of these polymers, specifically, near the semiconductor and dielectric interface, which can be controlled via dielectric surface modifications and film deposition conditions. Major characterization techniques that have been employed for these organic semiconducting films are atomic force microscopy and 2-D grazing-incidence x-ray diffraction.
