I am currently working with Gwo-Ching Wang in the Department of Physics here at RPI. Our research group concentrates mainly on two aspects of surface physics; we study how thin films and nanostructures form on substrate surfaces during deposition, and we try to measure the unique properties that these films may possess (mechanical, electronic, magnetic, optical, etc.).

My two specific areas of interest are the use of x-ray diffraction (XRD) to examine the crystalline properties of nano-columnar structures grown by glancing angle deposition (GLAD), and I am also designing a non-magnetic scanning tunneling microscope (STM). When operational, this microscope will be able to perform conventional STM as well as allow measurements in an applied magnetic field, such as the magneto-resistive properties of individual surface structures.
