Ph.D. (Hokkaido University)
Career Highlights:
Yamaguchi’s accomplishments include the fundamental understanding of structural evolution in partially ordered crystals, glasses, and supercooled liquids using time-domain and frequency domain spectroscopy.
Specific examples are discovery of a new acoustic anomaly in the phase transition of quantum parelectric crystals (the dielectic constant increases when the temperature decreases); measurements of elastic stiffness of MOCVD (Metal Organic Chemical Vapor Deposition) grown lattice mismatched nitride semiconductors; manipulation of acoustic phonons using impulsive stimulated Brillouin light scattering; polariton based THz spectroscopy for study of large-scale fluctuations of ferroelectric nanodomains; and the THz acoustic spectroscopy for the study of elastic modulus constant of amorphous thin films.
Research Interests:
Structural and electronic dynamics in condensed matter, THz spectroscopy of advanced materials, THz science and technology.
