Final poster for 2001 Summer REU at Rensselaer

Science of Information Technology (ScIT) is an undergraduate introductory physics course aimed at the non-physics major on an undergraduate level. The course covers topics such as optical fibers, p/n junctions, electric fields and quantum wells. The ultimate goal of the current project is to create a portable curriculum for ScIT that can be transferred to other institutions where they can reproduce the course. ScIT at Rensselaer has been a very successful course, and the majority of students who have taken the course say that they would recommend it to a friend. Much other data addressing both student attitudes and learning gains have been collected. This paper will describe data analysis and how we plan to use the data to improve the materials being developed.
