Astronomy Exams

The final exam will be held Monday, Dec.15, from 2:00pm until 5:00pm in CI3051.
There will be three exams for our course, on Wednesday evenings from 7-9pm:
Exam Date Classes
Covered
1 Sept 24 Through Sept 22
2 Oct 29 Through Oct 27
3 Dec 3 Through Dec 1
All three exams will be held in DCC 337.

If these dates are inconvenient for a majority of the class, tell me as soon as possible and we can reschedule.

All exams are open book and open notes. You can bring any written material with you that you'd like. You should also bring a calculator.

The exact format of the exams has yet to be worked out, but you can see last year's exams if you like. The ones for this year will likely be similar.

If for some reason you cannot be at the exam, please let me know well ahead of time and we will schedule a makeup.

Exam 1

The solution key is available as postscript, pdf, and Framemaker 5 files. The average score was 81.85, so there will be no need to curve the distribution upward.

Exam 2

The solution key is available as postscript, pdf, and Framemaker 5 files. The average score was 66.12, so I will add 8.88 to everyone's score to curve the distribution upward.

Exam 3

The solution key is available as postscript, pdf, and Framemaker 5 files. The average score was 65.33, so I will add 9.67 to everyone's score to curve the distribution upward.

Final Exam

The solution key is available as postscript and pdf files. The images are also available. The test was hard; the average score was 50.96, so I added 24.04 to everyone's score to curve the distribution upward.

After a few grade changes on the earlier exams, and removing students who dropped the course, the previous exam averages became 83.35, 66.19, and 62.72 respectively, so I adjusted the curves when figuring course grades.
