Course 78235 Experimental Physics

Spring Semester 1998

http://www.rpi.edu/dept/phys/Courses/Xphys/

Welcome to Experimental Physics. The whole point of this course is for you to discover new things by doing experiments yourself in the laboratory, not by reading them out of a book and working out problems for homework and exams. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do.

I will see you in laboratory pretty much all the time. Instead of setting up office hours, I'll leave it to you to tell me if you want to set up a meeting to talk about anything that's on your mind. The same goes for the teaching assistants.

There will be regular class meetings for the first six weeks only. We will use that time to get up to speed on some important concepts in data analysis, and to learn a little about the experiments that you'll do in the laboratory.

Classes meet MWF from 9-9:50 in DCC 239 only through Friday, February 20. Homework will be due on the first three Fridays of the term. Laboratory sessions meet in SC 3C14 and begin Tuesday or Thursday, January 27 or 29.
