Career Highlights

Dr. Tretiak graduated with honors from the Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology (1994). He was awarded a Graduate Student Award in Computational Chemistry (1996) and thereafter recieved several distinguished fellowships: Elon Huntington Hooker and Sherman Clarke Fellowships (1996-97), Arnold Weissberger Fellowship (1997-98), Director’s Post-Doctoral Fellowship (1999-01), and Slansky Fellowship (2001). Dr. Tretiak has (co-) authored more than sixty review and research articles and presented more than thirty plenary and invited talks at international and national meetings, including meetings of the American Physical Society, the Materials Research Society, and the American Chemical Society.

Research Areas

Dr. Tretiak investigates the relation between optical and chemical properties of organic and semiconductor materials; development of modern computational methods for molecular optical properties; Time-Dependent Density Functional Theory; Molecular dynamics of the excited states; Collective electronic excitations and optical response of confined excitons in conjugated polymers, semiconductor nanoparticles, and molecular aggregates; Charge and energy transfer in biological and artificial antenna complexes; Ultrafast nonlinear spectroscopy; and Nonlinear dynamics of complex classical and quantum systems.
