Career Highlights

Lookman began his career as a fellow with the Science and Engineering Research Council in the United Kingdom in 1983. He then spent 14 years teaching at the University of Western Ontario in Canada and left with the rank of full professor in 1998. In 1997 he served as a Royal Society Visiting Professor at the University of London. He joined the theoretical division of LANL as a technical staff member in 1998.

Research Areas

Lookman's research includes the modeling of soft, biological and hard materials. His studies involve membranes, complex fluids and polymers, phase transitions and statistical physics, structural phase transformations, and multiscale approaches to large-scale computations.
