Greek Reunions Among the Highlights of
Homecoming 2007
Homecoming had a distinctly Greek flavor this year. The wekend featured several reunions of Greek houses, including Pi Beta Phi, Sigma Alpha Epsilon, Phi Mu Delta, Theta Xi, and Theta Chi. In support of the Greek gatherings, the Rensselaer Alumni Association (RAA) sponsored a new event, called Greek Chowderfest, which brought returning Greek alumni together with current students to relax, reminisce, and reconnect. Additionally, the Alumni Inter-Greek Council (AIGC), a committee of the RAA whose mission is to foster the overall improvement of the Rensselaer Greek community, held a meeting on Saturday.
The Alumni Office has been communicating with Greek houses over the past year, encouraging them to leverage Homecoming weekend by inviting alumni back for open houses or other events, and offering support for these types of programs. The groups that took advantage of the opportunity had terrific results. Nearly 200 alumni returned to campus for various Greek Homecoming activities.
“I hope the Greek ChowderFest becomes an annual tradition,” said Roger Mike ’70, vice president of the AIGC and alumnus of Delta Phi. “The atmosphere was relaxed, the buffet and desserts were delicious, and the conversations with alums and undergrads were thoroughly enjoyable. The Office of Alumni Relations did a terrific job in helping to bring us together.”
