Seven former student-athletes were inducted into Rensselaer’s Athletic Hall of Fame in the fall.

Bridget LaNoir ’99 was a standout in two sports, field hockey and ice hockey. In field hockey, she was a two-time captain, twice named the team’s Most Valuable Player. In ice hockey she holds all of the school’s scoring records for a defenseman. LaNoir is currently RPI’s head field hockey coach and assistant women’s ice hockey coach.

Dave Lohrman ’97 was a two-time National All-American pitcher. He was twice part of the top pitching staff in the NCAA and was an Academic All-American once. He holds the school career records for wins, winning percentage, no hitters, and consecutive games won, as well as strikeouts in a game. Lohrman was selected by the New York Mets in the 1997 Major League Baseball entry draft. He eventually reached Class AAA, the highest level ever by an RPI alumnus.

Dan McGovern ’98, a running back, holds school records for rushing attempts, yards rushing, touchdowns, and points scored. McGovern was the school’s Male Athlete of the Year three times; he was a two-time National All-American and once named an Academic All-American.

Cathy Moran ’96, who ran cross country and track, was a four-time National All-American. A multiple team captain and MVP, she was the school’s Female Athlete of the Year in 1995-96. Moran, who now goes by her married name of Cathy Moran-Unrah, holds the school record in six track events.

Bill Snyder ’97 was a two-time National All-American and twice named the league’s Pitcher of the Year. He led the nation in individual ERA once and was twice part of the top pitching staff in the NCAA. Selected by the Detroit Tigers in the Major League Baseball entry draft in 1997, he also reached the Class AAA level before retiring from professional baseball.

Jen Swiderek ’97 had 138 points, including 58 goals and 22 assists, while playing on the soccer team. Among the honors she earned was Career Athlete of the Year. As a senior captain in 1996, Swiderek, who now uses her married name of Thissell, scored a school record 27 goals while leading the team to its best record in school history (16-1-0).

LaNoir, Lohrman, McGovern, Moran, Snyder, and Swiderek were inducted at Rensselaer’s Annual Hall of Fame Banquet, held during Homecoming Weekend Oct. 2-3. Adam Oates ’85, the seventh member of the Class of 2004, was honored during a home hockey weekend Nov. 5 (see Adam Oates '85 honored).
