The Summer of ’44: Students who were members of the Navy V-12 College Training Program posed in the Quad. In July 1943, the peace-time ROTC was incorporated into the new V-12 program and all cadets were placed on active duty. The campus became an official Naval Training Station. John Milanese ’47 found this photo in his collection and sent it to his correspondent for the Class of ’47 news. |

Recipients of this year’s Albert Fox Demers Medal, honored at the Rensselaer Alumni Association awards dinner in June, are, from left, Jeffrey Kodosky ’70, Barbara Landgraf, and Charles Rancourt ’70. The Demers Medal is the second highest award the RAA bestows. It was established in 1942 to recognize outstanding service and stimulate interest in the welfare of the Institute by either alumni or friends. The fourth recipient, Robert Swanson ’58, was not present at the ceremony. |

The Rensselaer Alumni Association presented Alumni Key awards to, from left, Stuart Benton ’62, Roberto Weinstein ’89, and Michael Miller ’79 at the association’s 18th annual awards dinner, held on campus June 11. The Alumni Key was created in 1965 by the RAA Board of Trustees to recognize outstanding service supporting the advancement of Rensselaer through activities associated with chapters, classes, fund raising, and special events. Other recipients of the Alumni Key, not present at the ceremony, were Thomas Baruch ’60, Peter Bohlin ’58, Robert Bozzone ’55, Robert Jones ’57, Ronald Piekunka ’58, and Jackson Tai ’72. |
