Here's what's going on in the next 30 days...

You can view all Mathematical Sciences events at this website.

Colloquia

Sponsored by the Mathematical Sciences Department. Brings in speakers from all areas of mathematics that are of particular interest to the department’s faculty. The current colloquium chair is Fengyan Li.

DiPrima Lecture
Each year the Department of Mathematical Sciences holds a special lecture in honor of Professor Richard C. DiPrima, who was a professor in the Math Sciences Department and started as chair of the department in 1972.

Class of ’27 Lecture Series

The Class of ’27 Lecture Series is a special lecture held each year. It was established in 1960 to honor the first chair of the Math Sciences Department, Professor Edwin Allen. The three members of the class of 1927 who established this series are Issac Arnold, Alexander Hassan, and Isadore Fixman.

Inverse Problems Seminar

Sponsored by IPRPI, the Inverse Problems Center at Rensselaer, speakers give talks on inverse problems or related research.

Graduate Student Mathematical Modeling Camp

The Graduate Student Mathematical Modeling (GSMM) Camp is a relatively new program at RPI. RPI will hold the fourth annual GSMMC on June 5-8, 2007. Further information may be found on the GSMMC home page.

Workshop on Mathematical Problems in Industry

The Workshop on Mathematical Problems in Industry (MPI) has been an ongoing activity of the faculty and students of the Department of Mathematical Sciences at Rensselaer for many years. MPI is a problem solving workshop that attracts leading applied mathematicians and scientists from universities, industry, and national laboratories. The objective of the workshop is to foster interaction and collaboration between scientists and engineers working in industry and applied mathematicians at universities.

Applied Mathematics Days is a two-day seminar series during which Postdoctoral fellows and graduate students from universities in the Northeast gather for a two-day seminar series to present informal talks about their current research projects. Plenary talks will be presented by leading researchers in applied mathematics.

The meeting is open to the public and those interested in pursuing graduate or postdoctoral research in applied mathematics are particularly encouraged to participate.
