The Body: What has been done so far

The substance of the progress report details the progress made thus far on the project, that is, what exactly has been done in the period covered.

You have several options for organizing the information, including:

  • Chronologically, in the order in which work was completed, or based on periods of time, ex. a section for each week of the project period being reported on

  • By topic, in which elements of the project itself are reported on, often with paragraphs or subsections devoted to each element
  • Consistent with another document, such as a proposal for the project

If there is a great deal of data is to be reported, graphical representations should be used. If extensive or disruptive to the flow of the text, these may be placed in an appendix, which is referred to in the body of the report.
