Build a node in the /web/ directory which describes your group's impression of:
A) what your responsibilities are to the rest of the class; and
B) what expectations you have of your classmates in helping you meet those
responsibilities.
Essentially, you are writing a contract with the rest of the class. You should be brutally honest and fair all at the same time! Gee, that doesn't sound hard...
Assignment for Thursday
You HAVE to have something complete for Thursday's class,
including a draft of a front node, and some pieces of both meta-text and
website done. If you do not you will be marked absent from Thursday's class.
How would you like to "run the class" on Thursday? How do we handle the problem of working in virtual space without copying files over other people's work? Would you like to conduct the reviews in small groups or individually?
Is the WWW more like a display or more like an interface?
In this class we've talked about "publishing" to the WWW, which sounds like our writing is being made available to the larger public for their reading enjoyment. Metaphors we could use are things like a newsstand or a bulletin board.
On the other hand, the WWW might be more like an interface. The user needs to make choices to navigate through the document. The experience of using the WWW might be less like selecting a magazine from a newsstand and more like playing a game or exploring a virtual world.
When you use the WWW, do you consider it a display or an interface? Why? Would you call yourself a "reader" or a "user" of the WWW? When you create a website, do you think primarily about the text you're writing, or do you consider how your audience will interact with your text?
