Rensselaer's Writing to the World Wide Web class had the pleasure of being visited by Amelia Deloach, one of only two "Links Editors" in the world. Amelia spoke to twenty-two students about a variety of hypertextual issues. She focused her lecture on linking in hypertext.
The two main topics which she addressed were when/when not to link and why linking is important. She used a well prepared web site, designed especially for the lecture, to organize her thoughts as well as web sites created by others to demonstrate her points.
Ms. Deloach wrapped up her lecture with a short discussion of ethical issues on the internet, a topic which has been debated throughout the semester by the students present. When confronted with the question of whether she thought that hypertext should be public domain she responded by saying , "Don't worry about it". With this she meant that there are no laws at the moment which prohibit the reproduction of hypertext created by another individual. She did however say that laws governing such actions would soon be put in to action.
