The Frosh Smoker was traditionally held on the Friday evening of Freshman Week. The event gave freshmen the opportunity to meet faculty and upperclassmen. Entertainment and free "smokes" were provided. In early years, the freshman handbook or "Bible" was distributed and RPI songs were learned at the smoker. The long tradition was discontinued in 1959.
