Rensselaer’s Incubator Program was founded in 1980, making it one of the oldest U.S. incubators and the first U.S. incubator wholly sponsored and operated by a university.

The Incubator Program manages a total of 42,000 square feet of office space and is housed in the J building Incubator Center at the campus of Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.

“Congratulations to Ecovative Design, winner 2007 Oxford University 21st Century Challenge Competition, Tomorrow's Planet Division”

Produces environmentally friendly technologies focused on sustainability, conservation, and alternative energy generation. The first offering, Greensulate, is a low cost, biodegradable, insulating material targeted at the green construction market. The core technology has a wide range of commercial applications for biodegradable composites.
