We went to the Troy Public Library and did some research.
Then we went to the Russell Sage Library.

We found many things on slavery in the 1860's. I found an article on the Extortion of Slavery. A man named, Rev. Dr. Cheevers, represented the fourth chapter of Paul's Epistle to the Colossians. He represented this chapter as containing the most terrible denunciations of the sin of Slavery, on the ground that Slavery itself was the most terrible form of extortion.
