Ann Sundberg

Founded WYRED in 1995.

Modeled WYRED on my previous electronic media projects, especially --
1995 Four Winds Media Team, a youth created web site with audio recordings of Ojibway and Dakota words at their Native American Magnet Public School.
1994 Internet Community Project, an e-mail/sewing project linking 3 Minnesota Public Schools (one inner city, one urban and one rural), in collaboration with teachers Rolf Hanson, Jim Gersich, Sandi Sevre, Doris Parker and Bob Francis.
1989, 1990 Video Self Portaits Projects, with teacher Rolf Hanson.

Developed WYRED in collaboration with media artist Wendy Vissar, teacher Rolf Hanson, Ark Co-Director Mary Theresa Streck and youth members.

Discussed a methodology for engaging in community based electronic art practice using WYRED as one of two case studies in my 1996 MFA thesis
"Citizen Artists: Telecommunications and Democratization".

I am currently pursuing a PhD in Science and Technology Studies at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute using participatory methodologies to explore the intersection between electronic telecommunications networks and citizen activism.
