When you see Wendy's "gear" graphic on a page it will link to the process layer of the web site where you can see the inner workings of the project.
I created the process layer because when I looked at the WYRED web site I realized that the electronic media products that students created were visible, however the process of how we got to these final products was not. The process layer gives insight into how we organized the project, the equipment we used, the funding we received, who did what and when they did it (in response to persistent efforts to co-opt the project in which peripheral participants have taken credit for the project), the theoretical foundations of the work and how this project informs future work. The process layer creates a space for critical reflection about the work and is open to everyone in the project. Hopefully in the future more participants will take advantage of it. I hope our process will be useful to others who are working on like-minded projects. Ann Sundberg, December, 1997
