| Medical/Health Insurance Summary | Details Regular or fixed-term employees scheduled to work 20 hours or more per week may enroll within 30 days of hire in one of the medical plans that Rensselaer offers. Coverage is effective the first of the month following date of hire. Otherwise, enrollment may take place during the open enrollment period to be effective January 1 of the next year or within 30 days of a family status change. There are three health care plans: The Rensselaer Health Plan (RHP), the Rensselaer HMO Plan, and Mohawk Valley Physicians' Health Plan (MVP). Rensselaer pays 80 percent of the total cost for full-time employees (50 percent for those working at least 1,440 hours; 0 percent otherwise) for either individual, two-person, or family coverage. Employee contributions are on a pretax basis if Rensselaer contributes to the cost of health coverage. |
