Re: Notice of the Filing of an Application for Permanent Employment Certification
The following notice is being provided as a result of the filing of an application for permanent alien labor certification for the position of Senior Lecturer (Arch.). Any person may provide documentary evidence bearing on the application to the Certifying Officer of the Department of Labor. This Notice is being provided between 30 and 180 days before filing the application.
SENIOR LECTURER (ARCH.)
Teach four (4) classes per academic year in, e.g., Architectural Design Studio, Seminar ("Synthetic Biology"), etc. Engage in academic advising and administrative service. Examples of courses to be taught include: 1. Architectural Design Studio (ARCH4780/4770). This is an upper division architectural design studio that explores topics of contemporary interest to the discipline. Students apply for this studio based on their personal interest and professional objectives. Three such studios Architectural Design Studio 5, Architectural Design Studio 6, and Architectural Design Studio 7, are required for the degree. 2. Seminar, "Information in us and around us" (ARCH4968). "Transformation of information is the fundamental building block of the universe"*. (* Norbert Wiener, "Cybernetics", 1948). The seminar will compare the dynamic process flows and the rivalry of different forms of information: biological, cultural and technological. Architecture plays important roles in this game and as a discipline of a wide spectrum, contains elements of all streams. Based on the theory of Universal Darwinism, which describe that natural evolution also explain principles of culture and technology, we will consider the various scenarios concerning of our future on this planet and beyond. This approach allows us a deeper analysis of our activity and understanding of consequences of our creative ambitions. 3. Architectural Design Studio (ARCH4770). This is an upper division architectural design studio that explores topics of contemporary interest to the discipline. Students apply for this studio based on their personal interest and professional objectives. Three such studios Architectural Design Studio 5, Architectural Design Studio 6, and Architectural Design Studio 7, are required for the degree. 4. Seminar. Still TBD.
Masters Degree (or foreign educational equivalent degree) in Architecture, or a closely related academic field.
