New York State Increases Minimum Wage as of January 1, 2005
New York State has increased the State's minimum wage from $5.15 per hour to $6.00 per hour effective January 1, 2005. Although the Federal minimum wage is currently $5.15 per hour, all employers are obligated to pay their employees who work in New York State the higher minimum wage of $6.00 as of January 1, 2005. Also, the new law increases the New York State minimum wage to $6.75 per hour effective January 1, 2006, and to $7.15 per hour effective January 1, 2007.
