Curtis R. Priem Experimental Media and Performing Arts Center (EMPAC)

Since its Grand Opening on October 3, 2008, EMPAC offers the latest digital and analog technologies, providing the infrastructure needed for artists and researchers to develop and showcase their works. Drawing strength from being part of a great research university, it provides artists, researchers, and audiences with opportunities available nowhere else under a single roof:

  • A distinguished 1,200-seat concert hall for major lectures, premieres, and campus-wide events
  • A 400-seat theater with exceptional staging and lighting capabilities
  • Two "black-box" studios (3,500 square foot and 2,500 square foot) ideal for dance, multi-screen presentations and immersive research environments.
  • A 1,400 square foot rehearsal studio
  • Four studios for artists-in-residence
  • Professional-level recording, editing, and post-production facilities, and
  • Recording, editing and broadcasting facilities for WRPI.

Show your support for EMPAC by naming a seat in the concert hall or theater.

Your gift can provide opportunities for artists-in-residence and campus researchers to use and develop the latest in experimental media to turn their ideas into experiences never imagined before. Opportunities also exist to name important venues within EMPAC as recognition for unrestricted endowment gifts.

Curtis Priem '82, Rensselaer Trustee and chair of the Experimental Media and the Arts fundraising effort, encourages your involvement and support.
