Deans of Schools

Deans of Schools are appointed by the president for 5yr terms after consultation with appropriate members of the university community. Before reappointment, a major, in-depth peer review and evaluation of each dean will be performed. The review should include anonymous input from all the faculty of the school. The Provost will meet with the faculty of the school to report on the results of the review. When appointing deans who are not already faculty members,  the review of the Provost is required. Their appointments, like those of the faculty, are subject to approval of the board of trustees.

Chairs of Departments

Department chairpersons are normally appointed for a 3yr  term by the president on the recommendation of the dean and the Provost.  Provision must be made for department faculty opinion to be considered in making the appointments and must be part of the written record.  Before reappointment, a  major, in-depth peer review and evaluation of each chair will be performed. The review should include anonymous input from all the faculty of the department. The Dean will meet with faculty of that department to report on the results of the review.
