Amendment Implications

Amendment 2.b.  Clinical Representation

Clinical faculty representation qua clinical faculty
There would be (for the present) two representatives of the clinical faculty on the Faculty Senate
Differing interests between clinical and tenured faculty would be recognized
There would always be a representative of the Troy campus clinical faculty on the Faculty Senate

An Incomplete List of Rationales, Questions, and Issues

Amendment 2.a.  Full Participation

Acknowledges the participation and contribution of clinical faculty in all phases of Rensselaer activities except P&T.

        Does it undermine tenure system?

Does it pre-empt possibilities for clinical faculty to organize on behalf of their own interests?

Amendment 2.b.  Clinical Representation

Representation does not equal full participation

Incremental solution; provides representation and time to better understand non-focal consequences and implications (e.g., effects on tenure system)
