While softcover books may be disposed of in the newspaper recycling bins, hardcover books can not be recycled this way. There are several options for getting rid of hardcover books.

Reuse
First, please consider if the books might be useful to someone. You could look within your own department, or contact Alpha Phi Omega if you think their used book store might want them. If they are reusable but not wanted at Rensselaer, there are places where they can be donated, such as the Albany County Jail.

Recycling
If the books are too old or otherwise unsuitable for reuse, we can recycle them. Please send e-mail to recycling@rpi.edu if you have books to recycle.
