Rensselaer is home to some of the most technologically advanced teaching and research facilities available to undergraduate students. Additionally, the school is located in one of the most geologically and environmentally exciting regions in the world.
The department is housed within two buildings on the RPI campus: the Jonsson-Rowland Science Center (JSC) and the Materials Research Center (MRC). The JSC hosts the department office (1W19), the departmental lecture room (3W13), the bulk of the faculty, staff, and student offices, and many of the laboratory facilities. The MRC is the home of the environmental geochemistry analytical facilities, Richard Bopp's office, rock and fossil collections, and environmental graduate students offices.
