Our department offers the opportunity to learn from some of the most accomplished faculty and to work on some of the most exciting and significant projects in Earth Science. Alumni of our graduate program have gone on to prestigious positions in research science, industry, and academia.
We encourage college students and graduates with undergraduate degrees in science to apply to our M.S. or Ph.D. in Earth and Environmental Sciences program. We encourage working professionals with undergraduate degrees in science to apply to our Professional Master's M.S. in Earth and Environmental Sciences program.
Ph.D. in Geology
Candidates must fulfill the requirements of the Office of Graduate Education. Evidence of success in graduate-level study and research must be shown. There is no language requirement.
Candidates may conduct research in one of the following areas:
- Petrology
- Geochemistry
- Geophysics
M.S. in Geology
Candidates must complete 30 hours of graduate study based on an approved plan of study.
A thesis based on original research is usually submitted. This requirement may be waived at the discretion of the candidate's adviser.
Professional Master's Degree in Applied Groundwater Science
Candidates must complete 30 credit hours of graduate study based on an approved plan of study. However, no thesis is required.
