Being a member of a Greek organization provides a wealth of opportunity for social and philanthropic interaction within the Greek, Rensselaer, and Troy communities. Members of Greek organizations often hold various leadership positions in the student government, First-Year Experience programs—such as Student Orientation, various honor societies and many student Union clubs. Greek Life remains strong with a diverse array of fraternities and sororities through which students can develop themselves and their communities.

As a part of the Dean of Students Office, the Greek Life Office holds various programs throughout the year to cultivate leadership and personal development for chapter and council members. We exist to support the positive missions and endeavors of all of our chapters at Rensselaer and oversee the system as a whole.

We strongly believe in the value and the tradition—now in its 140th year— that the Greek community brings to Rensselaer. As the acronym in “Greek L.I.F.E.” reminds us, the Leadership, Innovation, Fortitude, and Evolution of our community are steadfast as we continue to strive for excellence.
