International students on an F-1 visa are allowed to participate in Cooperative Education programs through curricular practical training. International students on J-1 visa are also eligible to participate in the co-op program, but the time will be deducted from their Academic Training. If you would like to apply for Co-op programs you must receive written permission from the Offices of Cooperative Education and International Services. Applications are available in the ISSS Office , online and the Career Development Center. There is currently no immigration limitation upon the length of time an F-1 student may participate in full-time curricular practical training, but if a student participates for 12 months or more, he/she will not be eligible for optional practical training. Students in exchange programs are not elegible to participate in the co-op program. Understand that to participate in the co-op program you must have your advisors approval. |
