Next week would be a good time to buy that new pair of shoes or other clothing items – as long as they cost less than $110.00
Beginning Monday, January 31, 2005 and ending Sunday, February 6, 2005 New York State will remove its sales tax from the purchase of most clothing and footwear costing up to $110 per item. Some counties and cities through the state also are removing their sales tax on similar items during the same period.
The International Office (ISSS) and the Career Development Center Office are hosting a seminar to cover the following topics.
How to find a job?
How to get permission to work in the United States?
What can the Career Development Office do for me?
Do I need a lawyer to work?
Speakers include:
• Tom Tarantelli from the Career Development Center speaking about their
services for students and what students should start doing to enhance their
chances of getting a job.
• Jane Havis from the ISSS office will talk about what kinds of work permission
is available for F-1 and J-1 students and how to obtain it.
• Michele Santucci, an immigration lawyer, will be talking about what
work choices international students have after they graduated and have used
their work permission from their student visa.
This will be held Tuesday, February 1, 2005 from 5:00-7:00pm in CII 4050.
This workshop will not be repeated this semester.
“Get real”. When talking to a person about something and you are hoping for something that you won’t get the person would say “get real”. Example: John and Mark are talking and John says I hope tomorrow morning I will wake up and be informed someone has given me one million dollars, Mark would say “get real”
It’s very cold outside. You should let your car warm up before you drive it. It is better for the engine. I suggest you let it run for 10 minutes before you drive. But this does not mean start your car in a parking lot and leave it unlocked while you go back inside. If you start your car and go back into your house you need to be able to see the car. You don’t want anyone to steal the car.
Keep your gas tank full. Don’t let the amount of gas you have in your tank go below ½ full. If you let the gas level get to low you could have fuel line freeze up. This means you will not be able to start your car. You should also consider putting some dry gas in your gas tank. This can be purchased at any gas station.
