This is a time when everyone is staying up late finishing projects, papers, labs, studying, etc. It is also a time when people get sick. Try to stay on a schedule, get plenty of sleep and eat correctly. If you become sick it is very hard to study.
After you have been studying for a couple of hours take a break for 5 or 10 minutes, get up and walk around, get the blood circulating. Remember to laugh. I know it sounds silly but in difficult times, a laugh from a good joke, funny book or movie can make you feel good.
“I’ll get back to you on that”. If someone says that to
you it does not mean they are going to give you something. It means whatever
you were talking about they will talk to you about it later.
“Hey Dawg”, if someone walks by you and says that, they are just
saying Hello to you. Dawg is pronounced dog.
Winter is coming. If you drive you need to prepare your car. Here is a list
of things I do to prepare:
• Get a full size broom to put in your trunk to brush off snow. It really
helps to have a broom because the long handle helps you reach spots on your
car without leaning on the car. It is very important to brush all the snow off
the hood of your car so it does not blow on the windshield while you are driving
and make it hard for you to see.
• Get a small ice scraper. This is useful so if we have freezing rain
you can remove the ice from your window before you drive.
• Put a blanket in the trunk of you car. If you car ever broke down and
you had to stay in the car waiting for help you might need the blanket to stay
warm.
• Keep some sand, rock salt or cat litter in the trunk of your car. This
is because if you get stuck on ice you can put the above items under your wheel
to get traction.
