I want to officially welcome you back to Rensselaer. The summer went by very quickly, I hope you all had a nice break.


Internationals Working in the USA

The International Office (ISSS) and the Career Development Center Office are hosting a seminar to cover the following topics.

Have questions about: How to get a job? How to get permission to work in the United States?

Speakers include:

• Tom Tarantelli from the Career Development Center speaking about their services for students and what students should start doing to enhance their chances of getting a job.
• Jane Havis from the ISSS office will talk about what kinds of work permission is available for F-1 and J-1 students and how to obtain it.
• Michele Santucci, an immigration lawyer, will be talking about what work choices international students have after they graduate and have used their work permission from their student visa.

This seminar will be held on Wednesday, January 28 It will start at 5:00pm and end at 7:00pm and will be held in the CII 4050.



Your address in the Registrar’s SIS how it should be listed

The Bureau of Citizenship and Immigration Services (formerly known as INS) requires that all students keep both the permanent and local addresses updated at all times. For this reason, students are required to report any changes of address to the ISSS office and to the Registrar’s office.

Updating Your Address in SIS:

*Things to keep in mind:
When updating or creating a new address the “VALID FROM” and “UNTIL” dates must be filled in! Enter an approximate date of when you will be living there, and when you will be leaving.

A school campus address must be the address where you will be living for each semester. This can be on campus in a residence hall or off campus. It cannot be a lab or office address. This address must be entered!

A permanent address must be your address in your home country. This address must be entered!

A billing address is the address where you want all of your bills sent to. This must also be entered, however, it can be the same as your permanent address or your school address.


Step 1- Login to SIS (student login)

Step 2- Click on “UPDATE YOUR ADDRESS/CHANGE YOUR PIN”

Step 3- Click on “UPDATE YOUR ADDRESS”

Once you are in the main page there are 3 options:
1. Change any information on an existing address
2. Select a new type of address to insert
3. Delete an address

Option 1. CHANGE INFO FOR AN EXISITING ADDRESS:

Step 1- Click on the address you would like to change (on the left hand side it will say “Current” in purple letters)

Step 2- Change any information on the page and scroll to bottom of page when finished and click “SAVE”

Option 2. TO ADD A NEW TYPE OF ADDRESS:

Step 1- Click on “SELECT TYPE OF ADDRESS TO INSERT”. Scroll down and pick one of three choices and then click “INSERT”

Step 2- Fill in the information and click “SAVE” when finished

Option 3. DELETE AN ADDRESS:

Step 1- Select the current address you would like to delete

Step 2- Check the box at top of page that says “DELETE THIS ADDRESS” at the top of the page. Scroll down and click on “SAVE”
