CRIME ALERT

Please be aware that a campus alert has been issued:

On Sunday, December 14, 2003 at approximately 1:30pm a female Rensselaer student was the victim of robbery and assault in the area of 14th Street and Peoples Avenue (on campus). The assailant fled on foot after the incident.

SUSPECT DESCRIPTION

WHITE MALE WEARING DARK GLASSES AND A SKI MASK.

Tips or information related to this incident should be directed to the Troy Police Investigations Unit at 270-4426.

What does this mean to you? Because the campus is open, we must all take steps to make sure we stay safe.

Here are some recommended safety tips for you to follow:
1. Walk with a friend.
2. Use the Personal Safety escort service available 24/7. Just call Public Safety at 276-6656.
3. Know the locations of the emergency Call Boxes on campus. If you don’t know what or where they are look around campus. It is a red pole and it has a blue light. If you want to know where they are located go to the Visitor’s Information Center and get a campus map they are all marked on the map. If you push the emergency button on this the call goes directly to Public Safety.

During the winter break, students can park their car in the North Lot when they come to campus. But this opportunity will end January 11, 2004.

If you have any concerns, please contact the Dean of Students Office at 276-6266
