Driving Tip

Last weekend the northeast region of the United States was hit by a very big snowstorm that left many roads and parking lots almost inaccessible. As cleaning efforts continue, the cities around the capital region have declared snow emergencies in the last two days. Snow emergencies are usually put into effect when snow is too much that some parking restrictions are created to clean the streets. In the city of Troy this snow emergency went into effect Tuesday, December 9, at 8:00 am. This means that on the streets designated with red snow emergency signs, cars may only park on the ODD side of the streets until 8:00 am Wednesday, December 10, when you need to move your car to the EVEN side of the streets. If you notice carefully the house numbers alternate between one side of the street and the other. This means that one side of the street has only even house numbers and the other, only odd house numbers. This should be your indication of where to park during the snow emergencies.

Also if you are going to clear out the snow of your car, you must NOT throw the snow on the streets because it is against the law and you could get fined for it. When cleaning your car, make sure you clean it completely, including all glass surfaces and the rooftop.

Finally, be very careful when walking because sidewalks and streets are very slippery.
