* Send a short email essay to the Director of M&M Lab/Program (selmer@rpi.edu) expressing interests in the kind of research that's involved in Minds & Machines. This research is described on the web site: www.rpi.edu/dept/ppcs/MM/mm.uc.html Also include a brief description of why your background fits, if you've got relevant prior experience (gaming, programming, etc.). The bottom line is that Minds & Machines is an undergrad program centered around R&D in AI and CogSci. * Apply to RPI, checking one of the boxes on the application for Minds & Machines. (If not sure which curriculum, select the most popular one: computer science/psychology dual major.) You can always change later to the other possibilities, e.g., engineering/psychology. * Assuming acceptance to RPI.... * Sign up for first-year-studies course "Minds & Machines" at your freshman orientation. This is very important. All new M&M students will be together in this great course, with opportunity to ponder the big questions raised by AI and get your hands dirty building software and/or robots. * Try as best as you can to keep Weds 12n-1pm free in your schedule This is when the M&M community has lunchtime seminars, demos, student talks, watches relevant Sci Fi films, etc. Meetings take place in Sage 3205, the M&M Lounge/Classroom. * When on campus, find me as advisor, at which time we'll make sure you're officially enrolled. You'll select your curriculum if you haven't done so already (comp sci/psych, comp sci/phil, or eng (e.g., ee)/psych eng/phil) and make this official by completing the dual major form available from the Registrar's Office. Your advisor in (e.g.,) comp sci will sign this form, and I'll sign as well as your second advisor. * contact Marc Destefano destem@rpi.edu to enter your info on the M&M interactive web site (bio, email address, etc.). * sign lab policy document (hard copy) and give to me available to print out at http://www.rpi.edu/dept/ppcs/MM/lab.html Then you become full member of M&M community for lunches, meetings, etc., times and locations of which are all communicated via email!
