Transportation Engineering
The transportation laboratory consists of a large number of PCs, principally 486/66 MHZ machines, equipped with laser printers. There is also a flat-bed scanner, a digitizer table, and a color printer. Auxiliary equipment includes video cameras, VCRs, automatic vehicle counters, and four model 179 traffic signal controllers, and four model 179 traffic signal controllers with display panels. There is also a McIntosh II workstation. Acquisiton of UNIX-based work stations (e.g., SUN SPARC stations) is under way. Development of both a signal control experimentation lab a a driver behavior lab is also in progress. Moreover, the transportation faculty maintain close working relationships with a large number of state and federal agencies to facilitate field experiments. These include the New York State Departemnt of Transportation, the Capital Distric Trnasit Authority, the Federal Highway Administration, the City of Troy, the City of Albany, and Sandia National Laboratories. |
