Computer Security – Is my Windows laptop secure?

There are four types of security: physical security, data security, internet connection sharing, and file sharing security.

Software to install on your laptop

Participants in the Mobile Computing Program can purchase the media for Microsoft Office Pro 2007 and Windows 7 (32-bit) for $20 at the Campus Computer Store.

You must bring your Rensselaer ID and a printout of your laptop status page from SIS indicating that you acquired your laptop through Rensselaer.

Linux on your laptop

To install Red Hat Linux or another Unix PC operating system, bring your laptop to the VCC Help Desk.

Red Hat Linux is the version supported by DotCIO.
